Dr. Wallenstein brings an exceptional personal commitment to his post as Medical Director of the Home's Skirball Hospice. A graduate of the University of Chicago's MSW program, Dr. Wallenstein began his career as a clinical Social Worker who cared for patients with terminal illnesses.
He received his medical degree from the University of Illinois at Chicago. Dr. Wallenstein began a residency in anesthesiology and critical care medicine at Johns Hopkins Hospital, and completed his internal medicine residency at the University of Illinois Hospital.
His training continued at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, where he completed a fellowship in pain management and palliative care. Dr. Wallenstein is also a staff physician at UCLA Palliative Care Service and clinical associate professor at UCLA's Family Medicine International Medicine Graduate Program. He is board certified in Internal Medicine, Hospice and Palliative Care and Pain Medicine.

Julia Cage-Lindsay, RN, CHPN, came to Skirball Hospice in 2010. Julie, as she is known, spent much of her nursing career in hospital and healthcare management and consulting before discovering her calling in hospice and palliative care. Since that time, Julie has been instrumental in establishing a hospital-based palliative care service as well as providing leadership in community-based hospice and palliative care.
Julie has lived throughout the United States and has resided in Southern California for the past 16 years serving in multiple capacities supporting patients with life-limiting diseases and developing and directing programs and staff. Julie has undergraduate degrees in both History and Nursing and is certified in Hospice and Palliative Care Nursing. She earned a Masters Degree in Public Administration/Health Care and has extensive specialty training in pain and symptom management and Bio-ethics.

Bill Ries joined Skirball Hospice as Administrator in 2010. With over 30 years experience in healthcare management and leadership, he brings excellent organization skills to effectively coordinate care delivery systems for hospice patients and families. Under his administration, the number of patients and families served by Skirball Hospice has steadily grown.
Previous leadership experience includes Hospice and Palliative Care of Northeastern Illinois, Barrington, IL and 20 years serving as President and CEO of Lake Forest Hospital, Lake Forest, IL.
Bill holds a B.A. in economics, a M.A. in healthcare administration from Cornell University and a M.S. in Communication from Northwestern University. He is also a Certified Public Accountant.
