How Hospice Can Help You
Are You Considering Hospice Care?
Caring for a family member with a life-limiting illness is stressful, but you don’t need to face it alone. Skirball Hospice brings comfort care to adults in the Greater Los Angeles area, allowing a loved one to remain home, in their familiar, reassuring environment, with family, friends, and pets. We support and assist families and caregivers with compassion and clinical expertise.
What is Hospice?
Skirball Hospice is end-of-life supportive care with a team approach, including pain medication, medical equipment, and personal care at no cost through Medicare or Medi-Cal. Most private health plans also include a hospice benefit.
Admission to hospice is voluntary. The process is started by your inquiry or a referral from your physician, which you or your family can request. In selecting hospice, you agree to receive comfort care only, rather than continuing curative therapies or seeking hospitalization. You may live at home or at a residential facility, depending on your caregiver situation. We develop a personalized plan of care with you and your family, and coordinate care, supplies, and equipment.
Why Choose Skirball Hospice?
We provide personalized and rapid response to your needs. Skirball Hospice is a nonprofit program of the Los Angeles Jewish Home, world-renowned as a provider of quality senior care. Skirball Hospice was introduced at the Jewish Home in 2002 to provide care for residents experiencing a decline in their condition. Responding to requests in the community for end-of-life care, Skirball Hospice began offering its skilled services to the community at large, becoming the premiere service of the Jewish Home's Home Without Walls concept. Since that time, the Jewish Home has introduced additional services to the community, including short-term rehabilitation, geriatric psychiatry, and PACE (a Program of All-inclusive Care for the Elderly), scheduled to begin serving local high risk seniors in 2012.
