Oren Raphael, MD – Medical Director
Dr. Oren Raphael is a board-certified internal medicine doctor and geriatrician specializing in caring for older adults. His fellowship experience and knowledge includes internal medicine, geriatrics, hospice and palliative care. Dr. Raphael has been with Skirball Hospice of Los Angeles Jewish Health since 2020 and has served as Medical Director since 2022.
In his current role, Dr. Raphael leads a clinical team of nurses and other healthcare professionals in delivering a compassionate hospice experience. His team focuses on addressing the holistic needs of patients and their families, while maintaining the regulatory and high quality standards required of leading hospice care organizations.
Dr. Raphael also works with external physicians, healthcare professionals and medical residents in the areas of hospice eligibility, palliative care and end-of-life management.
Dr. Rafael earned a Bachelor of Arts from the University of California, Los Angeles and Doctor of Medicine from Universidad Autónoma de Guadalajara in Zapopan, Jalisco, Mexico. He also underwent the Post-Baccalaureate Premedical Sciences Program at Columbia University in New York, New York. In addition, he is a California state licensed physician and surgeon. He is fluent in English, Spanish and Farsi/Persian.
